UNDERSTANDING WHEN YOU CAN MAKE AN INJURY CLAIM FOR A DOG BITE IN CALIFORNIA

Perhaps you have suffered a dog bite in California, or perhaps it is your dog that bit someone else, resulting in an injury.  This event may have happened on your property or elsewhere.  Now you want to know how the ability to make a claim is affected by the details of this situation.

California has a strict liability law that says the owner of a dog is responsible for injuries caused when that dog bites a person.  The ownership of the property where the bite occurred does not affect this liability.
