Do you have to accept the insurance company’s offer for your car? Hi. I’m Frank Nunes. I’m a California personal injury trial attorney practicing in the state of California. Join me as we answer that question. Well, the short answer to that is no and it usually depends. If the offer is not fair, why should you accept it? How do you go about showing the insurance company the offer is not fair?

Well, you show them comparable vehicles in other locations with the similar features and the similar year and the same model. If the amount they’ve offered you is not enough to buy a car of similar model, similar details, then it’s simply not going to be a fair offer. One last trick they try to pull is to get you to retain the salvage value of the car.

This can be looked at on a case by case basis, but if you want to get as much money as possible for your car, let them take the salvage.
